The HDPE is a polymer which is characterized by:
- Excellent thermal and chemical resistance.
- Very good impact strength.
- It is solid, colorless, translucent, almost opaque.
- Very good processability, ie they can be processed by methods used for thermoplastic formed as injection and extrusion.
- It is flexible, even at low temperatures.
- It is tough.
- It is more rigid than low density polyethylene.
- Presents difficulty printing, paint or paste over it.
- It is very light.
- Its density is equal to or less than 0.952 g/cm3.
- Not attacked by acids, water resistant to 100 ° C and most of the ordinary solvents.
HDPE pipes are designed to work buried with a lifespan of at least 50 years and even under certain conditions we can say that the total period is still more.
